Manchester United Manager David Moyes Sacked By The Club

Manchester United sack manager David Moyes, Ryan Giggs named interim manager. Moyes had a hugely disappointing season as manager since replacing Alex Freguson last July. Announcing the departure shortly after staff arrived for work at the Carrington training ground, United thanked the Scot for "the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role"

Premier League Manchester United vs Everton 0 - 2 Sunday 20 April | Goodison Park

Manchester United manager David Moyes continued his stepping stone to failure when his poor side was beaten easily by Everton. Moyes was greeted with boos as he walked out of the tunnel before the match. This loss definitively ended United's hope of qualifying for the Champions League.

Everton won a penalty after Jones struck out his arm to block Lukaku's curling shot. Baines guided the spot kick down the middle for the sixth goal of the season. Everton doubled their strike two minutes before the half time when Kevin Mirallas scored a fantastic goal.

Premier League Liverpool vs Manchester City 3 - 2 Sunday 13 April 2014 | Anfield

Liverpool took a huge step towards their Premier League title dream with a 3 - 2 victory over Manchester City.

Goals from Raheem Sterling and Martin Skrtel put Liverpool in complete command in the first half.
Philippe Coutinho's 78th minute strike took Liverpool 7 seven points clear of the visitors. Manchester City fought back from 2 - 0 down to level the scores, but mistake by captain Vincent Kampany let Coutinho fire a dramatic 78th minute winner.

Champions League Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona 1 - 0 April 9 2014

Atletico Madrid continued their successful run this season against Barcelona by defeating them 1 - 0 and winning the 2nd leg 1 - 0 with the help of Koke's early goal. This win helped Atletico to claim a berth in top four first time in 40 years.

The stunning 1 - 0 victory at an electric Calderon stadium followed last week's 1 - 1 draw in Barcelona in their Champions League quarter final, first leg and denied Barca a record extending seventh consecutive appearance in the last four.

Champions League Manchester United vs Bayern Munich 1 - 3 April 9 2014

Manchester United are knocked out of the Champions League by holders Bayern Munich. Title holder Bayern came alive in the second half after falling behind and beat Manchester United 3 - 1 on Wednesday to advance to its third straight Champions League semifinal.

Bayern enjoyed 65% of the possession but failed to make an impact, and Patrice Evra put United ahead with a superb volley in the 57th minute.

The lead was gone in 60 seconds as Mario Mandzukic got the equalizer. Thomas Mueller made it 2 -1 in the 68th minute and Arjen Robben made it 3 - 1 in the 76th minute.

Champions League 2 leg Chelsea vs Paris St- Germain 2 - 0 (agg 3 - 3 ) Tuesday April 9 2014

Wow, that was a great performance by Chelsea. Chelsea came from behind to overcome a 3 -1 loss in the first leg when substitute Demba Ba struck a dramatic late goal to seal a 2 - 0 home victory over PSG.

Chelsea went ahead in a tense end to end battle at Stamford Bridge with a superbly taken goal from the substitute Andre Schuerrle after 32 minutes and they also hit the bar twice on two minutes early in the second half.

Chelsea returned to the top of the Premier League with a convincing 3 - 0 victory over struggling Stoke. On his first Premier League start, the Egypt forward, Mohamed Salah scored a goal to give the hosts the lead. Goals from Frank Lampard and Willian helped maintain Chelsea's unbeaten home record.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho: "I keep saying that we don't depend only on ourselves and we never did. I was waiting to be top of the league and depending on ourselves but that has never happened. We depend too much on other results"

Stoke manager Mark Hughes: "I was disappointed with what we produced. It's a wake up call to us. For weeks and weeks we've been a lot better than that but for whatever reason we didn't have enough players playing at their maximum today"

Premier League Manchester City vs Southampton 4 - 1 Saturday 5 April 2014 | Etihad Stadium

Manchester City beat Southampton 4 - 1 to keep their title hopes very much alive. But there was a bad news for the watching England boss Roy Hodgsonas Saints striker Jay Rodriguez was carried off with what looked like a serious enjury.

Yaya Toure gave the hosts the lead after just three minutes from the penalty spot after Jose Fonte's lazy trailing leg felled Edin Dzeko. Goals from Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko in the first half stoppage time, then a late goal form Stevan Jovetic, made it 14 wins from 15 home league games for City this season.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "Now we have an important game against Liverpool, they have to play tomorrow so we will see what happens"

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino: "I don't know how Jay Rodriguez is. It's not looking good but we'll be assessing it in Southampton"

Premier League Everton vs Arsenal 3 - 0 Sunday 6 April 2014 | Goodison Park

Rampaging Everton thrashed Arsenal to eye top four. Everton struck a huge blow in the battle to qualify for the Champions League with an emphatic 3 - 0 win over Arsenal.

First half strikes from Steven Naismith and Romelu Lakuku, along with an own goal from Mikel Arteta, put the hosts on course for a first appearance in Europe's premier club competition since 05/06.

Everton are now just one point behind Arsenal with a game in hand.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "We knew if we got three points today then it would leave us with 63 points, but we still got another 18 points to play for... "

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Everton were better than us. We were not a good level and have to come back to basics"

Rejuvenated Manchester United secured a fourth successive away league win as they thrashed Newcastle.

Juan Mata scored twice as Manchester United's excellent away form. Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj scored to wrap up the game 4 - 0.

Manchester United boss David Moyes made eight changes from the side that drew 1 - 1 with Bayern Munich in Champions league quarter final.

Juan Mata and Shinji Kagawa put on an impressive display for the team.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew: "It was a tough afternoon for us and we weren't at out best".

Champions League 1st Leg Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund 3 - 0 Wednesday, April 2nd 2014

Read Madrid eased towards a fourth consecutive Champions League semifinal as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo both.

Real got off to a fantastic start when Bale scored after three minutes, before Isco doubled the lead.
Cristiano Ronaldo then scored his 14th Champions League goal of the campaign to match the competition's record mark for goals in a season set by Lionel Messi two years ago.

Champions League 1st Leg Paris St-Germain vs Chelsea 3 - 1 Wednesday, April 2nd 2014

Chelsea crumbled to a 3 - 1 defeat to trail after first leg. Chelsea must make up a two goal deficit to stay in the Champions League.

Ezequiel Lavezzi scored an early half goal to put the hosts (PSG) ahead. Chelsea responded well with the impressive Eden Hazard leveling from the spot after a foul on Oscar.

But David Luiz scored an own goal to restore PSG's lead. Javier Pastore struck late in the injury time to give PSG a 2 goal lead

Champions League Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid 1 - 1 Tuesday, April 1 2014

Diego Ribas scored for Atlético  11 minutes into the second half with a wonder strike from long range. However, Barcelona responded like a side looking to make their seventh consecutive Champions League Semifinal and were level when Neymar scored 19 minutes before second half.

The result was a fourth draw between the two sides this season, showing the slim differences between them.

Champions League 1st Leg - Manchester United vs Bayern Munich 1 - 1 Tuesday April 1st 2014

Manchester United produced a much improved needed performance to hold defending champions Bayern Munich to a 1 - 1 draw in the home leg of the their Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Bad luck haunted United when Danny Welbeck's early strike was harshly ruled out for a raised foot. Welbeck missed United's best chance in the first half when clean through on Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer.

Bayern midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger cancelled out Nemanja Vidic's opener, but was then sent off in last minutes of the game.

On the whole, United keeper David de Gea was well protected but he did produce a stunning save to stop Robben shot at the goal.
